Disposable Underpads

Howard Medical Company offers a wide selection of highly absorbant disposable underpads for hospitals, nursing homes and individuals. Underpads come in many sizes and construction types. The pad is composed of a bottom plastic that is waterproof, a middle absorbing section that can be made of layers of tissue, or the more absorbable fluff, and a top layer that is the patient side. The top sheet can also be made of tissue or a more tear resistant spunbond.

Many underpads have the top sheet glued to the bottom plastic, others have two side rolled and then glued so that liquid can only come out two side of the pad if it over fills. In underpad lingo this is called channeling and greatly enhances the absorbency of the pad.

The weight of the pad is largely determined by the amount of filler, which absorbs 8 times its weight in fluid. A polymer can be added to the filler, which absorbs 50 times it weight but is more expensive.

They have a fluff core, no polymer, a spun bond top and two sides are rolled.
